Dr. Stephen O’Connell brings over two decades of medical experience to our practice, having begun his career in 2004. A graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology (Cum Laude), Dr. O’Connell pursued his medical education at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. His commitment to a comprehensive approach to medicine led him to complete both osteopathic (D.O.) and allopathic (M.D.) board examinations (COMLEX and USMLE), showcasing his dedication to excellence.
With a passion for aesthetic medicine sparked by his own experience as a patient in the 1990s, Dr. O’Connell has become a recognized leader in laser-based treatments, particularly tattoo removal.
As a long-standing member and active fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), he stays at the forefront of innovative laser technologies. Dr. O’Connell proudly partners with ASLMS to offer the New Beginnings Radiation Mark Removal Program, providing complimentary tattoo removal services for cancer survivors in Washington State as a way to give back to the community.
Dr. O’Connell’s expertise extends beyond tattoo removal. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and has completed advanced training in bio-identical hormone therapy through the Academy of Preventative & Innovative Medicine. His postgraduate training includes an Internal Medicine internship at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, a three-year PM&R residency at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a fellowship at the University of Washington. During his time at Pittsburgh, he contributed to groundbreaking research published in leading journals such as Spine Journal and PM&R.
